Designand content
Two directions for the first screen and visual style to choose from.
We extend the chosen direction to the agreed pages. You will be able to edit texts and images yourself.
We compare WordPress with Next.js together with Payload: Next.js itself does not include a content management panel.
WordPress is a popular website platform with a built-in management panel (CMS). You can edit texts and images yourself, publish news and add pages. It suits landing pages, corporate websites, blogs and online stores. The design can be custom-built, and ready-made extensions (plugins) help add forms, payments and other features.
WordPress's strength is its large ecosystem of ready-made solutions and wide choice of hosting. Many standard tasks can be solved by configuring existing tools. As the site grows, it is important to consider theme and plugin compatibility, update them regularly and keep backups.
Next.js + Payload is a modern website platform with a custom interface and room to grow with business needs. Next.js handles pages and interactive elements, while Payload handles content management. The solution is built on a modern technology stack (React, TypeScript, Node.js). Texts, images and other materials can be edited through the panel without knowing code.
The strength of this combination is flexibility of the interface, data structure and integration with other systems. The editing panel is configured for the specific site: services, projects, products or other sections. It is a convenient base for non-standard features and further growth; developing and hosting them requires a specialist.
The capabilities below describe the platforms. Specific features and integrations are included in the project according to the agreed scope of work.
The table can be scrolled horizontally.
| Parameter | WordPress | Next.js + Payload |
|---|---|---|
| Platform architecture | A content management system with built-in page rendering. It can also be used with a separate front end. | A combination of tools: Next.js builds pages and the interface, Payload manages content and data. |
| Technology stack | PHP, JavaScript; the block editor uses React. | JavaScript / TypeScript, React, Node.js. |
| Self-service editing | Texts, images, posts and pages are edited in the standard panel. | Content is edited in a panel with fields and sections configured for the project. |
| Building pages from blocks | Built-in block editor; capabilities depend on the theme and settings. | The set of blocks can be configured in Payload and their display in Next.js. |
| Custom design | Possible through a custom theme, blocks and refinements. | Built with React components; convenient for non-standard interfaces. |
| Adding features | Ready-made plugins or custom development. Compatibility must be checked. | Development of components and server logic, plus connecting libraries and Payload extensions. |
| Content structure | Pages, posts, categories; additional types and fields via code or plugins. | Collections, fields and relationships between data are defined in the project configuration. |
| Preparing pages for visitors | Pages are usually generated on the server; caching allows serving ready-made copies. | Supports pre-built pages, server-side rendering and refreshing of cached pages (SSG, SSR, ISR). |
| Loading speed | Depends on the theme, plugins, images, caching and hosting. | There are tools for optimizing images, fonts and code loading. The result depends on the implementation and infrastructure. |
| Technical SEO | URLs, metadata, sitemap and other settings are handled by the platform, theme and SEO plugins. | Metadata, sitemap, redirects and structured data are configured in code; the needed fields can be exposed in the CMS. |
| Multiple languages | Usually implemented through plugins and language version setup. | Payload supports field localization; language routes and the switcher are implemented in Next.js. |
| Integrations and APIs | Ready-made plugins, the built-in REST API and custom handlers. | REST and GraphQL APIs in Payload, Next.js server logic and connections to external APIs. |
| Users and access rights | Built-in user roles; more complex rules via extensions or code. | Access rules can be configured for collections, individual records and fields. |
| Database | MySQL or MariaDB. | Payload supports PostgreSQL, MongoDB and SQLite through the corresponding adapters. |
| Hosting and deployment | A wide choice of general and specialized WordPress hosting with PHP and a database. | The full stack needs a Node.js environment, a database and file storage; deployment on a server or a compatible cloud platform. |
| Updates and maintenance | WordPress, the theme and plugins are updated; compatibility and backups are checked. | Next.js, Payload and dependencies are updated; the build, database changes and backups are checked. |
| Security | Depends on updates, extension quality, access rights and server configuration. | Depends on updates, data validation, access rules, secret protection and infrastructure configuration. |
| Further development | Convenient for tasks covered by ready-made extensions; non-standard scenarios require additional development. | A flexible base for custom scenarios, complex interfaces and integrations; new features require development. |
WordPress is a good fit if you want a website with a familiar management panel, a wide choice of ready-made extensions and easy hosting selection. Next.js + Payload is a good fit if custom interfaces, your own data structure and growing the site around business processes matter. Both platforms can produce a quality website; the choice depends on your goals and growth plans.
How wework
We agree on scope, structure, editable fields, materials, checks and timeline. You confirm the facts and provide contacts and access through an agreed channel.
You choose one of two directions for the first screen and style. We implement the agreed scope, adapt it for mobile and make two rounds of consolidated revisions.
We'll show the finished version and check the agreed pages, features and mobile scenarios. After the review, final payment is made before publication.
We'll deploy the website on agreed, suitable hosting, check the live version and record your acceptance. We'll hand over the source files, client access and a short guide.

We'll offer two options for the first screen and visual style. We extend the chosen option to the agreed pages. The package includes two rounds of consolidated feedback within the scope of the task. This is not two full designs of the whole website; we fix errors in our implementation separately from new requests.
We'll prepare the structure and regular copy from your information; you confirm the facts, prices and claims. We use your images and logo. If needed, we can prepare AI illustrations and a simple standard logo. Brand identity and brand book are not included. We do not present AI images as real products, team or results.
SEO copy, SEO analysis, search query research and promotion are not included. Website development alone does not guarantee leads, sales or search rankings.
Additional pages and languages, other forms, calculators and special logic.
A store, personal account, complex integrations and a large service catalog.
A separate SEO structure, SEO copy, SEO analysis, promotion and ongoing maintenance.
25% before we start, 75% after review of the finished website before publication. Initial deployment is included in development. Domain, hosting, licenses and paid services are paid separately.
You register the domain yourself in your own account; we'll help with registration and setup. You can use your own suitable hosting. If the site is hosted without our maintenance, you keep control of the settings.
We record acceptance after the live website is published and checked. From the confirmed date, we fix errors in our implementation within the agreed scope free of charge for 30 days; payment before publication does not start this period. New requests and the consequences of third-party changes are assessed by the cause of the problem; we do not automatically rule out our own errors.
When the project is handed over without ongoing maintenance, you revoke our permissions and change the passwords and keys known to us from the list provided. We record the date and contents of the handover and ask you to confirm the revocation; where we can, we remove access ourselves. For separately agreed ongoing maintenance, we keep only the necessary permissions.
Don't want to deal with hosting, updates and backups? We can discuss optional website support. It is paid separately and is not required for choosing a platform.
We agree on the list to fit your company. It could be home, about the company, services, one service and contacts. The home page has up to 8 blocks, each inner page up to 5.
Both let you edit agreed content through the admin panel. WordPress is usually easier to host and maintain yourself. Next.js + Payload needs suitable infrastructure and more complex setup.
We help with structure and regular copy based on your information; you confirm the facts, services and prices. SEO copy, analysis and a separate SEO structure are not included.
Yes, with a separate estimate. Editing agreed fields yourself does not mean you can freely add any feature without a developer.
Two options for the first screen and visual style, then the chosen direction applied to the agreed pages. Two rounds of consolidated revisions within the scope of the task.
We'll hand over the source files, access and a guide. From confirmed acceptance, there are 30 days for errors in our implementation. Regular support is paid separately.
Describe your offer, the pages and features you need. If you have materials or examples, mention them. A detailed technical brief isn't needed for a first conversation. Do not send passwords or keys in the form.
